Southbank Centre is made up of several venues consisting of Hayward Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Jubilee Gardens and Royal Festival Hall, a venue with a 2,500 seater auditorium. The Royal Festival Hall is a Grade I listed building built in 1951 as part of the Festival of Britain, a national exhibition and fair billed as a ‘tonic to the nation’ to help the nation recover from the Second World War. Celebrating arts, science, industry and design, eight million people attended across its five-month run. The Royal Festival Hall is the only original building still standing from the festival. It has undergone various renovation projects over the years in order to maintain the iconic building, most recently in 2005 funded by the National Lottery. The original designers were Robert Matthew and Leslie Martin, with Peter Moro, and furniture designed by Robin Day.

We’re excited to see where the future takes us with Southbank Centre – stay tuned for more!
